The Playing Venue Abergavenny Pétanque Club has a playing area large enough for 16, 12 metre pistes, although 8, 15 metre international-sized pistes will be set-up for the Celtic Challenge 2007 with a "Come and try" area alongside. The terrain is in the public eye as it is located next to a walkway in the main local park. Bailey Park itself is set in a picturesque location affording stunning views to the surrounding Black Mountains and into the Brecon Beacons National Park.
The Club shares an on-site clubhouse facility with the neighbouring Bowls club. This clubhouse houses a kitchen and has male and female changing facilities with separate toilets and showers. A temporary bar is also due to be run from the clubhouse for the Celtic Challenge 2007 and additional marquees and gazebos will be set up on the grass area bordering the terrain.
Abergavenny Pétanque Club is only 5 minutes walk from Abergavenny town centre and easily reachable on foot from either of the recommended hotels. By the time of the Celtic Challenge 2007, APC will also have permanent floodlighting installed, capable of lighting the whole playing area! |
